Staff training assets
The problem: Field teams collecting timber samples across 20+ countries were working from a single lengthy document that lacked specificity, didn't account for language barriers or varying literacy levels, and ignored the realities of fieldwork in remote locations. Errors in collection and dispatch were creating significant operational overhead as staff had to individually train each operative.
Process: The first step was working with key stakeholders across the network to establish common standards and understand the shared learning objectives for all operatives. This was done through detailed surveys and consensus-building with regional leads. From there, I designed a visual-first training system: illustrated guides structured around tasks rather than topics, PDFs and short videos with synchronised subtitles in multiple languages, and packaging with embedded instructions so critical guidance was available at the point of use. The approach minimised text, focused only on principles common to all collectors, and prioritised clarity.
Result: Standardised procedures across regions, fewer collection errors, and significantly less administrative overhead for the organisation.
